Embracing digitalisation: New ETUCE/ EFEE project to address the potentials and challenges of digital technologies in education

Published:

ETUCE and EFEE (European Federation of Employers in Education) have launched their joint research on how to address the challenges and opportunities of digitalisation in the education sector. All ETUCE/EFEE member organisations are invited to contribute to their data by 11 December 2020.

Initiating the first steps of the joint project “European Social Partners in Education Embracing Digitalisation” (e-Speed), this survey serves to collect data on the state of digitalisation in the education sector, the impact of COVID-19 in that regard and gather feedback on good practices of inclusive digital policies.

Susan Flocken, ETUCE European Director, welcomed the launch of this project in the frame of the European Sectoral Social Dialogue for Education: “Including education social partners at all stages of policy development and implementation is paramount to shaping policies that ensure the provision of quality, public, and inclusive digital teaching and learning environments for all teachers and students. Together, ETUCE and EFEE will work and reflect on uses of digital technologies that effectively enhance the world of work of teachers and the learning of students. This joint reflection is a significant step towards building a framework of participation and contribution, shaping tomorrow’s digital technology use in education.”

In a subsequent phase of the project, case studies in Denmark and Romania will provide an opportunity to gain in depth comprehension of the stakes and challenges facing education personnel. It will also be an occasion for all actors to discuss the concrete impact of the practices in place. The survey finding, the research outcome and a joint statement will be presented in a final conference.
