The safer internet day is celebrated every year and promotes the idea of a conscientious use of online technologies. Especially younger people and children need guidelines for responsible handling the internet and new technologies like twitter and Facebook. Therefore teachers and families have to learn to address this topic appropriately. Originally the day was evented by the European Commission in 1999. Under this year's theme "Let's create a better internet together" activities and projects in almost 100 countries have taken place.
