Romania: FSLI appeals to politicians in Romania to take their responsibilities
Published:On 16 January 2018, the Free Trade Union Federation in Education (FSLI), one of the ETUCE member organisations in Romania, called on the government officials in Romania to face their responsibility and not to drive the country into economic and social instability.
FLSI believes that “Citizens of Romania should not be collateral damage for the political infighting or parties following their own interests. There are millions of citizens in the country who merit respect for their contribution to the development of Romania”.
The education trade union expects radical changes in the governance of the country based on respect and consideration of the concerns and needs of those who entrusted politicians with their votes.
“We need professionals to govern the areas they represent. We also believe that we need continuity in projects started, at least in the education system. 2018 is the year in which Romania celebrates the Centenary of the Great Union ”, added FLSI.
Susan Flocken, European Director said, “In January 2019 Romania takes over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, taking the lead in guiding the European Union and its citizens and in shaping the future for a stronger and united European Union. At the Gothenburg Summit on 17 November 2017 European leaders stressed that education is one of the best vectors to strengthen European identity. To this end, ETUCE believes that the Romanian government will take into consideration the demands of the education trade unions”.
