Turkey: 33 Egitim Sem members lost their jobs

On 24 December 2017, the Turkish government issued two new decree laws, resulting in 2,756 public employees being deprived of work. Egitim Sen reported that almost 138 dismissed workers were affiliated to KESK (Confederation of Public Employees’ Trade Unions), including 33 Egitim Sen members. According to Egitim Sen, only 114 public employees have been reinstated in their duties.

Keskin Bayindir, Egitim Sen General Secretary, considers that “Through the continuing number of government decree laws the ruling party establishes a climate of fear. It is governing the country solely under the state of emergency”.
