President of the Bulgarian Education Trade Union receives highest civilian award

Yanka Takeva, President of SEB, one of ETUCE member organisations in Bulgaria, has been awarded the highest awarding medal of the Republic of Bulgaria for a civilian: “Stara Planina 1st Grade” by the President of Bulgaria, Rossen Plevneliev on 7 April 2016. Mrs Takeva is also the first woman in the country to receive this distinction. She has been decorated for her “significant contribution to the development of education and civil society in Bulgaria and as an active leader of the Bulgarian union of teachers for many years”.

‘Yanka Takeva is undoubtedly one of the most iconic faces of Bulgarian education’ stated the President of Bulgaria in his awarding speech.
