European Area of Skills and Qualifications
ETUCE, as a European-level social partner, has been monitoring and involved in consultations to establish strategies and major European Commission policies on education and training, such as the EU2020 / ET2020, Erasmus + (2014-2020) / Lifelong Learning Programme (2007-2013), Rethinking Education and European Area of Skills and Qualifications. We participate in the implementation of the major education and training policies of the European Commission. ETUCE is member of 9 Open Method of Coordination Working Groups of the European Commission, which is an intergovernmental structure of the European Commission to implement the ET2020 and ET2020 targets.
The European Commission run a public consultation until 15 April 2014 to create the so-called European Area of Skills and Qualifications.
Policy
- ETUCE encouraged its member organisations in Europe to fill in the questionnaire using a joint ETUCE - ETUC position and joint answers:
- Joint ETUC-ETUCE position to public consultation on a European Area of Skills and Qualifications (March, 2014)
- Joint ETUC-ETUCE answers to public consultation on a European Area of Skills and Qualifications (April, 2014). We highlighted that facilitating mobility and recognition of education and training not only contributes to skills development and employability, but also promotes the integration or reintegration into work, learning and training. We fully support the efforts of the European Commission to promote education and training mobility, quality assurance and transparency via these tools.
- ETUCE has been advising ETUC on representing the trade unions' education and training policies in bodies and events of the EU institutions and agencies related to the creation of the European Area of Skills and Qualifications, such as in EQF, EQAVET, and ECVET.
