European Week of Teachers 2024 : Highlighting Teacher Voices in Video Series

Published:

As we conclude the European Week of Teachers, ETUCE is proud to release a special video series as part of our #MakeTeachingAttractive campaign. Throughout the week, teachers from across Europe shared their personal experiences and voiced their demands for improving the teaching profession.

In a series of nine videos, we explore key challenges and solutions that teachers are advocating for, with a focus on:

  1. Promoting professional autonomy
  2. Delivering decent, competitive salaries
  3. Supporting an effective career start to ensure retention
  4. Ensuring quality professional development
  5. Embedding equality and diversity
  6. Sustaining safe and secure working conditions
  7. Ensuring workload control and work-life balance
  8. Creating democratic school cultures
  9. Fostering social dialogue
  10. Valuing, respecting, and empowering the teaching profession

These videos bring to life the critical issues facing teachers and the urgent need for governments and policymakers to listen and act. At ETUCE, we believe that no educational policy can be complete without the input of teachers, who are at the heart of our education systems.

Watch the video series below to hear directly from teachers about what is needed to ensure teaching remains a respected, valued, and attractive profession. Let’s continue to support their demands and build a brighter future for education.
