ETUCE joins EASO consultative forum for asylum support

Published:

ETUCE is happy to announce that it has become a member of the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) Consultative Forum on Asylum Support, headquartered in La Valletta (Malta). EASO is a decentralised agency of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Migration. Founded in 2011, the Forum is EASO’s channel for cooperation and information exchange with civil society organisations active in asylum and refuge.

Education is a fundamental reception-condition for asylum-seekers to guarantee their adequate standard of living in Europe.

Joining the ‘EASO Consultative Forum’ allows the ETUCE Secretariat to strengthen institutional cooperation and influence policy development on asylum support at European level from the education trade union standpoint, for example, via targeted public consultations, collaboration in research projects and participation in special events.

Commenting on this news, ETUCE Director Susan Flocken said “ETUCE is looking forward to working with EASO and the rest of the Consultative Forum in increasing cooperation and information exchange for the benefit of refugees and asylum-seekers in Europe from an educational and inclusive standpoint.
