In this special celebration of the importance of the role of all teachers and educators from all over the world, a special mention was made of the ILO / UNESCO Recommendation on the Status of Teachers (1966) and the UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Higher Education Teaching Personnel (1997), which completes 20 years in 2017. These two instruments are of extreme relevance, as complemented by the ILO (International Labour Organization) Policy Guidelines on the Promotion of Decent Work for Early Childhood Education Personnel define the true international standards for the teaching profession.
