ETUCE, European Director, Susan Flocken, expressed her sincere condolences to colleagues, and those who have been injured in the incident and those who are suffering the loss of a family member in Manchester.

Deeply appalled, European Director said “It is sad to learn that the incidence targeted in particular young people. There are no words to express the deep sadness when children and young people who have all their life ahead of them are torn from the world and for their friends and family to experience such a tragic event”.

ETUCE reiterates its strong condemnation and rejection of such repulsive actions.

Tragic incidents like these, remind us how important the work of education personnel and their unions is in supporting them to allow young people to become self-confident and critically thinking, open-minded democratic citizens that seek ways of expressing their views and find solutions to challenges other than through violence”, said Susan Flocken.

In conclusion, she wishes the UK colleagues strength and confidence in that times to continue their important work.
