A teacher can change the world
Because of the political profile of the Turkish government and its legislative plans mining teachers’ role, value and status in society, EĞİTİM SEN initiated a campaigning and organised actions aimed at mobilising, raising awareness, and shaping public opinion. The aim of the initiative was to halt legislative proposals by the Government and to raise the status and the value of the teaching profession in the society. The campaign has unfolded into numerous teachers’ meetings at schools in different parts of Turkey, where the issues at stake were discussed, and all teachers were prepared to take action. The campaign involved other organisations and associations active in the education community, as well as trade unions and political parties.
